Mattie

I’ve known Mattie for about 7 or 8 years.  He’s the most passionate chiropractor I know.  I like to tel him his slogan should be “snapping necks and chashin’ checks,” just to drive him crazy.  He’s quick to explain that he doesn’t “snap” necks and that chiropractic is more than just cracking backs.  He has even testified in Senate hearings on the subject.  Like I said, he’s passionate.

In this image Mattie, who holds a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, is working on black belt Henrique at the world jiu jitsu championship in Los Angeles, CA.  I was drawn to similarity between Mattie’s gentle pose and that of Marcelo Garcia on the backdrop behind Mattie.  Both Mattie and Henrique are in the shadow of Marcelo, who is their teacher.   The fact that the Marcelo image is mine as well, makes this shot even more special to me.
