There was a time when I loved shooting concerts. I still do actually…but these days I find it even more interesting to shoot artists off stage than on.  The photo ops I get in backstage and in the green room are one of the things I like best about shooting at BET.  I love trying to figure out what is going through the artist’s head.  Is she nervous about going onstage?  Or merely excited?  Soundcheck is another fantastic photo opportunity. You get a good read on how seriously an artist takes his or her craft when you watch them perform without an audience.
